Dr. Balloonatic's Blog

Hello everyone, this is Dr. Balloonatic with a special request for anyone who is interested in helping some charities, while having fun playing poker at the same time! www.pokertourney4u.com is offering poker tournaments to benefit the Southern Nevada Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, as well as Southern Nevada's Power Packs 4 Success, which benefits local schoolchildren. Both are worthy organizations that can really use the help. If you're a poker player, this is a great opportunity to help out a charitable organization while possibly making some money at the same time! Go check it out!

Hello everyone, Dr. Balloonatic here with my first in a series of Party Tips to help make your party an easy, worry-free experience. PARTY TIP #1: If you are going to have Entertainment at your party, make sure that you have allocated a time and place for the kids to eat SEPARATE from the entertainment. If the kids are eating and drinking during the performance, their neighbor's attention to the show (as well as your carpet) will most likely suffer as a result. You should expect to get full value from your entertainment dollar, and this includes everyone's undisturbed enjoyment of the show.

Ever seen the movie, "Jurassic Park"?
Wanna see it done COMPLETELY out of balloons? The project would consist of LIFE-Sized Balloon sculptures of Dinosaurs, plants, and other animals from the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods of Earth's history. The entire exhibit will be made out of balloons, done to scale and will be as scientifically accurate as possible. The project will be an interactive Walk-Through exhibit that people can visit and learn about the earliest periods of Earth's history.
We have the planning, venues, crews, building materials and other details already in place or standing by. The only thing we need is funding.
Pepsi is sponsoring several Community Projects around the country and is offering up to $50K (FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS) for the projects that get the most votes. We need YOU to visit the website and VOTE for Elastic Park. You can vote ONCE per day, EVERY day in February.
Follow this link to vote for Elastic Park: http://www.refresheverything.com/ElasticPark
Tell everyone you know, this is going to be a FUN and ENTERTAINING educational project that everyone can get involved in.
I'm very excited to be able to be a part of this team, if this project gets the funding it needs, I will likely be able to take part in the design/construction of the exhibit when it gets to my part of the country.
Thank You!! -
Robyn and I just got back from vacation in San Diego! We had a GREAT time, one of the best, most relaxing weeks we've ever had. We missed out on Twist and Shout, but we still feel we made the right decision.

I had a party this afternoon that was VERY strange. This was a Birthday Party for a little boy who turned 3 years old. There were a few kids and parents already there when I arrive, which is the way I prefer it. I greeted the kids and began doing balloons. I heard a loud crash behind me, followed by a young boy crying. I thought to myself, "Well it's not a party until someone cries". I turned around and to my shock and horror I saw a man had fallen down the stairs while carrying his 3 year old son, the Birthday Boy. It turns out that Birthday Boy was fine, he just had a bump on the head but Dad was actually seriously hurt. He could not get up, and they had to call the Paramedics to take him to the hospital. There was a span of about 5-8 minutes after the fall before the Paramedics showed up and I exchanged a look with the mother (who by now had a housefull of guests and some character in a Lab Coat making balloons for the kids in her living room). I decided that the best course of action would be for me to continue the show and keep the kids occupied. After Daddy was taken to the hospital, the Mom had a chance to sit down and collect herself. I have to admit I was incredibly impressed with the way she was able to hold herself together. I know there were some relatives there to help her through it, and I'm pretty sure a relative also went to the hospital to keep an eye on things there until the party was over.
Having said all that, if it weren't for the whole falling down thing and Paramedics coming and going, it was possibly the BEST show I ever did! The kids were AMAZING! They laughed when they were supposed to laugh, they were quiet when they were supposed to be, and they were incredibly well behaved. I couldn't have asked for a better performance.
I made a large Biplane out of balloons and presented it to the Birthday Boy and his brother. The kids LOVED the airplane!
After the show, Mom asked me if I could make a Crutch out of balloons for her to take to her Husband. When I was a kid, I had to use Crutches for over 6 months so I had a pretty intimate knowlege of exactly what it should look like. It was PERFECT! I don't have a picture of it yet, I'll try to get one from them.
